Local SEO for service businesses

Ranking in the towns you actually work is not a trick. It's a clean Google Business Profile, location pages with something real to say, and the discipline to cut what isn't earning its place. That's the whole practice, and almost nobody in your market is doing all three.

Google Business Profile

The profile most customers see before they ever see your site.

For a service business, the map results are the front page of Google. We manage the profile like it matters: categories and services set correctly, service areas that match where you actually work, photos from real jobs instead of stock, and answers kept current.

Then we keep it alive. We build posting calendars months in advance from your real job photos, so the profile shows a business that's working, week after week, without anyone in your office having to remember it. When a homeowner compares three profiles at nine at night, the one with last week's job photos wins.

Location pages

We delete more location pages than most agencies build.

The standard agency move is to generate a page for every town in a fifty-mile circle and swap the city name. Google indexes a handful, ignores the rest, and the dead weight drags down the pages that could have ranked. You've seen these pages. So has Google.

We work the opposite way. City pages are capped to the towns you can actually win, each one is written by hand, and expansion is gated on data: a new town gets a page when Search Console shows the impressions are there to earn, not because a spreadsheet listed fifty suburbs. And when we inherit a pile of thin pages, we cut it. On the TreeTec rebuild we deleted 127 thin location pages on purpose, because pages that rank nowhere drag down the pages that could. The case study walks through why less site outranks more site.

The content

Written from real geography, or not at all.

A location page earns its ranking with substance a template can't fake: the neighborhoods you've worked, the age and style of the housing stock, the drive time from your shop, the weather that actually drives the phone calls in that zip. Roughly half of a good city page is genuinely local, and that's what keeps it indexed while the templated competition sinks.

Every local claim gets verified against maps and your own knowledge of the market before it publishes. If we can't confirm a neighborhood, a landmark, or a drive time, it doesn't go on the page. Made-up local color is worse than none.

Iteration

Search Console decides what happens next.

Local SEO is not a set-and-forget project. On the Manage retainer we review your queries, pages, and positions on a steady cadence and let the data pick the next move. Pages gaining ground get built on. Pages going nowhere get rewritten or cut. Queries you're almost winning get a page that deserves to win them.

You see the same numbers we do, reported in plain language: what people searched, where you showed up, and what changed since last month. No vanity dashboards.

The honest part

When local SEO is the wrong buy.

Sometimes visibility is not the bottleneck, and buying more of it wastes money. We'd steer you away if:

  • Your calendar is already full from referrals and repeat work, and you don't want more volume. There's nothing to buy here. Save the money until growth is the goal.
  • Your site can't convert the traffic: slow on phones, broken forms, no clear next step. Rankings would just feed a leaky bucket. Fix the website first.
  • The phone already rings more than anyone answers it. More visibility makes that worse. Automation that answers and follows up comes first, then we pour in more leads.
Pricing

What does local SEO cost?

It depends on the ground to cover. The drivers are how many towns are genuinely winnable, how competitive your trade is in them, the current state of your Google Business Profile, and how much location content has to be written from scratch. After the audit it's a fixed monthly number tied to a written scope.

A one-crew outfit defending three towns is a different engagement than a company pushing into two metros, so we won't quote a number before the audit. What stays constant is the shape: you know what's included, the price doesn't drift, and the monthly report shows the work and the movement side by side. How that fits the audit-build-manage model is on the approach page.

Questions owners ask

Local SEO FAQs.

How long does local SEO take to show results? +

Months, not weeks, and anyone promising faster is guessing. How many months depends on your starting point: an established profile with reviews in a small market moves quicker than a new one in a crowded metro. What you should expect from us is visible progress in the Search Console data, reported plainly, from the first month on.

Do we need a page for every town we serve? +

No, and building one anyway is how sites end up with hundreds of pages Google ignores. You need pages for the towns where the data says you can rank, each with something real to say about working there. A tight set of strong pages outranks a sprawl of thin ones.

Can you guarantee a top spot on Google? +

No, and nobody honest can, because Google doesn't sell positions in the local results. What we can do is control the inputs: a clean, active profile, pages with real local substance, and monthly iteration driven by your actual search data. Businesses that hold those inputs steady tend to climb. That's the deal we offer.

Do Google Business Profile posts actually matter? +

Posts are not a ranking switch, so we won't pretend otherwise. What they do is show homeowners an active business with recent, local work at the exact moment they're comparing you against two competitors. A profile with fresh job photos wins those comparisons. The steady cadence matters more than any single post.

Local SEO gets you found. The website turns the search into a call, and automation makes sure the call gets answered and followed up. One machine, three disciplines.
